BEGINNERS WORKSHOP – Basic Training for New Shooters
If you are new to ADTA, please attend one of our Dry-Fire Workshops before signing up for this Beginners Workshop.

Event Description:

Our Beginners Workshop provides “basic training” for new handgun owners and shooters who want to refresh their skills. This is a dry-fire event that covers all the basics of handgun safety and operation in one 4-hour session. Includes many skills needed to get your Safe Shooter certification.  Enrollment is limited so that you get lots of personal attention.

In this workshop you will:

  • Handle a variety of real handguns safely – using non-firing dummy training rounds – under the supervision of ADTA Range Safety Officers.
  • Learn how to hold, aim and dry-fire a handgun.
  • Learn how to draw from the holster.
  • Learn how to earn your ADTA “Safe Shooter” certification and get signed off on many of the requirements.

You don't need to bring anything to this workshop:

  • If you have a gun, leave it at home!
  • We'll supply all needed equipment.

Event includes these Safe Shooter requirements:

  • The 4 Basic Rules of Gun Safety.

  • The 12-Step Basic Dry-Fire Exercise.

  • The 5-Step Basic Holster Exercise.

  • Naming the parts of a pistol & revolver.

  • Dealing with unsafe gun handling.

Firearm Safety Protocol:

This protocol must be followed for everyone's safety. ADTA Range Safety Officers (RSOs) will be present to check you in at the door.

  1. No loaded firearms or live ammunition will be permitted in the workshop venue.
  2. If you arrive carrying a firearm, you must secure and lock your firearm in your vehicle prior to entering the workshop venue.
  3. For everyone's safety, handling of firearms is not permitted during ADTA workshop events except by the supervised, specific direction of an ADTA official.
