Event Description:

Our Beginners Workshop provides in-depth training for both new handgun owners and experienced shooters who want to refresh their skills. This 4-hour event covers all the basics of handgun safety and operation in one session.  Includes many skills needed to get your Safe Shooter certification and participate in Live-Fire events.  Enrollment is limited so that you receive lots of personal attention.

What you will learn in this workshop:

  • How to handle a variety of real handguns safely – using non-firing dummy training rounds – under the supervision of ADTA Range Safety Officers.
  • How to hold, aim and dry-fire a handgun.
  • How to draw from the holster.
  • How to participate in a Live-Fire shooting line.
  • Find out how to earn your ADTA “Safe Shooter” certification and get signed off on some of the requirements.
Event includes these Safe Shooter requirements:
  • The 4 Basic Rules of Gun Safety.
  • Dealing with unsafe gun handling.

  • Naming the parts of a pistol & revolver.
  • The 12-Step Basic Dry-Fire Exercise.

  • The 5-Step Basic Holster Exercise.

Firearm Safety Protocol:

This protocol must be followed for everyone's safety. ADTA Range Safety Officers (RSOs) will be present to check you in at the door.

  1. If you are a concealed pistol license holder, you are of course welcome to do so responsibly at our events.
  2. At most of our workshops we encourage our attendees to actively participate in exercises or scenarios.
  3. For everyone's safety, we require that active workshop participants not be carrying a loaded firearm.
  4. For everyone's safety, handling of firearms is not permitted during ADTA workshop events except by the supervised, specific direction of an ADTA official.
  5. Our ADTA Range Safety Officers will be present to help all attendees unload and clear any firearms prior to participating.
  6. If you are participating in the workshop, you may also secure and lock your own firearm in your vehicle prior to entering the workshop venue.
