If you want to shoot with ADTA and have never fired a gun before:
ADTA does not have the resources to train beginners. But once you know the basics of shooting a handgun in a target lane, then we can help you learn to shoot skillfully and safely in defensive situations. Our suggestions for getting started:
- RECOMMENDED—Take a class at a shooting range. Learn enough to shoot safely in a target lane. Many ranges offer evening and weekend classes for beginners.
- OR—Go shooting with a friend or family member. This is an easy way to learn the basics of handgun operation and firearm safety.
- OR—Go to the shooting range and rent a pistol. The staff at the rental counter will be glad to help you get started shooting.
Once you know the basics of shooting a handgun, you're ready to start attending ADTA LIve-Fire Practice Events!
